3D GeniuX can import files in the following formats:

>DXF (Autocad®, Autocad®LT v.2000)
>3DS (3D Studio Max®)
>OBJ (Alias Wavefront® Object)
>X (Microsoft DirectX®)
>XTF (Xteam File)

OBJECT MANIPULATION

What if the 3D object is in an unwanted position?
Use Scale, Rotate, Move tools to reach the desired result.

What if, rotating some 3D objects, such objects are projected out of the screen or the rotation gives way to unexpected behaviour of the objects?
The rotation of an object turns around a pivotal point, that is set within the 3D modelling software where you created the object (See also Modify menu). To solve this inconvenience, centre the pivotal point on the object, using the Centre Object tool. Please check that the rotation is set on an axis with the commands,,.

I have many objects in my project. How can I select a single object?
To select an object use the selection tool and click on the object on the video.
Or you can use the “Properties” window

I have imported or created a 3D object, I it is there in the “Properties” menu, but I cannot see it on the screen.

SOLUTION 1: the software automatically adapts the visualisation depending on the size of the first object loaded. The following objects loaded or created might be too small or too big to be visualised in the correct way.. Use the “Zoom on the selected object” tool and hide the other objects from the “Active Structures” rollout . Then it will be possible to use the Scale tool to set the object’s dimension or insert a numerical value from the “Object Position” rollout on the Scale XYZ (%) box.

SOLUTION 2:
The object might have wrong dimension or a wrong pivotal point. To solve this problem, centre the pivotal point on the object with the Centre Object tool , then use the tool "Zoom on selected object" .

SOLUTION 3: the imported object might be constituted of a totally transparent material. Correct transparency from “Properties” menu on the slider .

SOLUTION 4: The imported object could be without any 3D structure. Verify from menu ?>Information>Polygons on the screen. If the number of polygons is wrong the loaded file might be damaged or not compatible.

I don’t know how many polygons I am visualising.
It is possible to count the visualised polygons from menu ?>Information>Polygons on the screen.

NOTE: while importing, the software optimises the 3D model, thus the polygons number might be different from the number shown in your preferred 3D modelling program.

MATERIALS

I loaded an object and even if it is quite complex, I cannot divide it into sub-objects and I cannot assign different materials to its different parts.
In this case in the “Properties” window there is a single voice representing the object, the sub-objects and the sub-materials. This is because the 3D model was exported in a wrong way from the modelling software with which it was created. The only solution will be to correctly import again the object (see Exporting 3D Objects >General).

The 3D object looks pierced or the faces appear inside-out.
Some 3D formats do not support the normal of faces, or have been created in a wrong way. To correct this error it will be enough to enable, from the Visualise menu> Double Side Material ON

After assigning a texture or a material to an object, the colour on the surface changes but no texture is visible.
Try to change the U,V values from the “Properties” window; if still no changes occur, it is possible that the UV mapping is wrong. Assign a new UV mapping from the “Texture Mapping” rollout , then reassign the texture.

See also Texture Mapping rollout

After assigning a texture or a material to an object, undesired distorted effect on the texture appears.
Try to change the U,V values from the “Properties” window; if still no acceptable changes occur, it is possible that the UV mapping is wrong. Assign a new UV mapping from the “Texture Mapping” rollout, then reassign the texture.

I exported an object from my 3D modelling software, I am sure the UV mapping and textures were correctly assigned, but when I upload the object in 3D GeniuX I can see the model but the texture links are lost.
Check you have saved all the textures in a format supported by 3D GeniuX BMP - JPG - JPEG - PNG (with alpha channel support). If textures are contained in the same folder as the 3D object, the software will load them automatically, otherwise, if the textures are in different folders it will be necessary to reassign them to the single parts from the “Properties” window>Load Texture.

I cannot create a transparent or semi-transparent surface.
To assign a transparency effect to an object or to parts of an object, change the “A” value from the “Properties” window, or use the “Load Texture Transparency” button.

SHADOW

An object does not generate shadow

Some 3D modeling software exports the normal of faces with "Right Handed Axis ". 3D GeniuX support shadow only for objects with "Left Handed Axis ". You can solve the problem in 3D GeniuX with the options "Invert Calculate Shadow" on "Shadow" roolout.

Artifacts on object surface

This artifacts follow the structure of polygonal surface, for exaple if you have been created some faces in a wrong way or you have an object with low detail. You can correct the polygonal surface with your modeling software.

The objects with transparency does not create a correct shadow

3D GeniuX does not support trasparency surfaces, and it creates a fill solid shadow.
